To become an Intensivist, you will need to apply for fellowship with the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand.  Fellowship is a minimum 6 year (full time equivalent) training pathway consisting of:

  • 6 months Foundation Training
  • 24 months Core Training
  • 12 months Clinical Medicine Training (6 months Emergency / Acute Medicine and 6 months Internal Medicine)
  • 12 months Clinical Anaesthesia Training
  • 6 months Elective Training
  • 12 months Transition Year Training
