Rockhampton is a major referral centre for healthcare services in the Central Queensland region. The clinical training program provides opportunities and experiences in all the key discipline areas, and many sub-specialties, including:.

  • ophthalmology.

Teaching practices and community health services provide a focus for integrated and multidisciplinary learning opportunities such as:

  • mental health.

Rockhampton is also a base for the Royal Flying Doctor Service and the Capricorn Emergency Helicopter Rescue Service.

Rockhampton is a major centre for the Central Queensland Region. It’s situated on the Fitzroy River, roughly 600 km from Brisbane. The town services a population of more than 80,000 people. The traditional custodians of the land are the Darumbal People.

Rocky, as it’s fondly known, is a lively blend of history, country charm and local industry. The town is a popular hub for travellers, with the region well known for its rugged landscape and natural attractions. The Heritage-Listed Rockhampton Botanic Gardens are among the largest regional gardens in Australia. The nearby coastal town of Yeppoon is a popular getaway for locals.

The residential complex provides townhouse and studio-style accommodation for up to 30 students. All units are fully furnished and feature private study spaces and internet access.

The centre also comprises a common room and teaching and learning facilities. The complex is centrally located within walking distance of the main teaching hospitals and practices.
